We’re planning a special issue in Spring focused on civil rights and race to commemorate Civil Rights anniversaries. Please share our Spring 2014 cfp with undergraduate writers!
We’re pleased to offer such a diverse range of contributions to mark our journal’s second year of publication. In this issue, writers investigate a community fighting urban decay, the iconic American mall as site of the zombie Apocalypse, and the aesthetic value of superhero movies compared to their comic book cousins. A student showcases his persuasive “#EyeCanSee” campaign against employers’ use of social networking to recruit or spy on employees, and a Chinese student discovers the power – and humor – of swearing in America. Finally, in our Storming the Gate section, a freshman experiences an epiphany about the “proper way to write” and reflects on the value of this insight to her continuing studies. This piece is accompanied by her professor’s rationale for the assignment. Please forward to students, friends, and colleagues, and share our link on social media! To navigate, start here or go to the Issues link above and select 2.1.
Thanks for reading & sharing,
